Research into Designers & Studios


From the post I had created of a variety of different designers I went through them and came up with the designers I am using for this.

Branding & Identity
400
400 is a small design studio based in London, which works primarily in Branding, with more works in website design & Editorial work. All design work is very simple with limited colour palettes.
Clients include: Plum, ILM, Citylaw, Cedar.

Alt Design is a small design company based in the Midlands with work in Branding, Digital & Print. Within this, they work in Editorial & Infographics, all depending on the needs of the client.

Analogue is a Leeds based design studio which works in most areas of Graphic design, ranging from Branding to Packaging. The work is a mixture of simple design to more complicated, designed for the client, design.

David Airey is a graphic designer based in Northern Island, who has a large amount of experience in the design industry. He works mainly in Branding & Identity, and has worked with a large amount of large name clients. He has also written two design books.

BVD is a design studio based in Stockholm, Sweden. Their work is always simple, clear and innovative. They work to continually update brands and give them a more contemporary feel.
Their work is in Identity, Packaging & Store concept (Retail), and usually take on larger scale projects instead of a one off.

Fredirico Landini
Landini is a Graphic Designer based in Italy. His work is mainly in Branding & Typography. Each piece of work has a simple design approach, though all outcomes are hugely different and unique.

The Official Manufacturing Company is a design studio based in Oregon. It is relatively new in the design industry but has a wide range of work in all design fields, and has had quite a few big clients.

The Build
Build is a design studio producing modern, graphic solutions for lifestyle clients, both independent and corporate. The core strength of the studio is in Branding & Identity, but work is also produced in other design areas, such as Packaging, and Motion Graphics. The majority of work is designed in a simple vector image format, using bold colours and stand out typography.

The Consult
The Consult is a team of brand and design experts, working in the areas of Identity, Advertising & Digital Design. Within this, The Consult has worked in Editorial and Packaging works. Their work consists of simple ideas executed in a way best suited to the client.

Why Not Associates is a design studio based in London and does a large variety for work, ranging from Branding & Identity to Environmental design. Their work is simple concepts, which are clever and memorable visual Identities for the clients.

Blow
Blow is a relatively new design studio which is based in Hong Kong, specialising in Identity, Editorial & Retail work. For such a new studio it is highly regarded and has already won a number of design awards.

Experimental Jetset is a small independent design studio based in Amsterdam. They do a large range of work, with a majority in Editorial work. Their work is a contemporary take on Swiss Modernism, with an innovative approach.

David Carson is one of the worlds most well known graphic designers because of his radical post-modern approach to design work. His work ranges from editorial to promotional, with a huge amount of commercial work from big industry names.

Rand was an American Graphic Design who is widely considered to be one of the most influential branding & logo designers of the past decade. He is best known for his large corporate logos, such as Next, ABC & IBM. Many of these are still in use. He is thought to be one of the originators of Swiss Design.

Josef Muller Brockmann

Muller Brockmann was a Swiss Graphic designer and typeface creator. He is a founding editor of design magazine New Graphic Design. He is recognised for his simple designs and his clean use of typography, notably Akzidenz-Grotesk, shapes and colours which inspires many graphic designers in the 21st century. He is also the author of many books.


Massimo Vignelli

Vignelli is an Italian graphic designer who has done work in a number of different areas of design, ranging from packaging design to way finding systems. He has always worked to the Modernist design traditions, focussing on simplicity through the use of geometric forms in all of his works.

Si Scott

Scott is a British graphic designer who is renowned for his hand-crafted and hand drawn work. He has a large client base, many of which are high profile and well known.
